Hi, I'm Maria Antonieta,

I'm a children’s book illustrator dedicated to creating expressive characters, playful details, and colorful worlds full of warmth and emotion.
I graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Visual Arts from the Universidad Autónoma de Querétaro. Before becoming an illustrator, I worked for many years as a graphic designer — a background that continues to shape the way I approach composition, rhythm, and visual storytelling.
I’ve illustrated for publishers such as Beaming Books, Charlesbridge Publishing, Edelvives México, Richmond Publishing, and Santillana México.
My most recent work with Charlesbridge Publishing for the book Manny Matches the Weather has been featured at the NSTA. I'm a Mexican-based Latina artist dedicated to telling vibrant stories where every child can find a bit of themselves.

Outside of drawing, I enjoy early morning walks, reading, learning Japanese (I passed the JLPT N4!), and spending time with my cat. I love documentaries about history and art, and I never turn down a cup of hot tea.
My goal as an illustrator is simple:
to create images that spark imagination, empathy, and a sense of wonder — especially for young readers.
